The Divine Dozen by VLAD BYKOV: Twelve One-of-One Crocodile Handbags, Numbered and Never Repeated

By Vlad Bykov, Founder and Couturier, VLAD BYKOV Couturier House, Dubai · Published 6 October 2026 · Updated 6 October 2026
The Divine Dozen is the first collectible collection of VLAD BYKOV Couturier House: a limited edition of twelve crocodile handbags, each in its own colour and finish, each made as one of one. Every bag is signed, numbered and archived. None will be recreated or made to order, so an owner takes one place among the twelve.

What is The Divine Dozen collection?

A closed, numbered collection of exactly twelve crocodile bags. The Divine Dozen was presented at the end of 2025: in December the House began showing the bags one by one under their numbers, each as N of 12. It is the House's first collection conceived as a collectible rather than as a line of products.
The difference is in what happens after a bag is made. A product can be ordered again, in another size or another colour. A collectible cannot. Each bag of The Divine Dozen exists in a single example, carries its number and will never be repeated in any colour, finish or form. When all twelve have owners, the collection is complete.
The idea grew out of bespoke work. Most of what the House makes is created for one person and exists only once: footwear, clothing, a travel bag for private aviation. The Divine Dozen takes the same principle of one of one and gives it a fixed shape, twelve places and no more.

Why exactly twelve bags?

Because in this collection a number is part of the meaning, not only a position in a row. The Divine Dozen is a collection where luxury is expressed through meaning, and most of the bags carry a number that stands for something: 3 for creation, the moment a vision becomes form; 5 for movement and freedom; 6 for balance and harmony; 7 for insight; 9 for completion and maturity; 10 for mastery; 11 for inner power.
Twelve closes the circle. Bag 1 opens the collection and bag 12 is its final chapter. Between them there are only twelve bags, each in its own colour, each created as one of one.

What are the twelve crocodile handbags of The Divine Dozen?

Twelve colours, three finishes and one principle. The table lists each bag as the House describes it on its own page, with its status as of 6 October 2026.

The palette alternates deep and light tones. Khaki and black open the collection, light grey, Himalaya and nude stand at its centre, and peach, the warmest of the twelve, closes it. Three bags, numbers 4, 8 and 10, have already found their owners.

Is The Divine Dozen a limited edition crocodile bag collection?

Yes, and a stricter one than the phrase usually means. A typical limited edition crocodile bag is one design made in a fixed number of identical pieces. The Divine Dozen is limited to twelve, and no two of the twelve are the same: each is a one of one crocodile handbag in a colour and finish that no other bag in the series shares.
The words matter here, because "one of a kind" and "unique" are among the most overused phrases in luxury. They are often applied to pieces that are simply made to order in an existing design with a colour swap. At the House, one of one means the piece does not exist anywhere else and that no second guest will ever be offered it.
So the collection is limited twice. The edition is closed at twelve, and inside it every unique crocodile handbag is closed at one.

What makes a numbered crocodile bag collectible?

That each bag carries its identity inside and has a fixed place in the House's record. Inside bag number 5, for example, a leather label is stamped THE DIVINE DOZEN, EDITION NO. 05 OF 12, BY COUTURIER VLAD BYKOV. The number on the label is the bag's permanent place in the collection.
Signed, numbered and archived are three separate things. Signed means the bag names its maker. Numbered means it names its place. Archived means the House keeps the record of every bag in the series, and that record is what makes the promise of one of one verifiable: there is one bag with number 5, and there will never be a second.
For an owner, this is the practical difference between a rare bag and a collectible crocodile handbag. A rare bag is hard to find. A numbered bag from a closed series of twelve has a documented place that no later production can dilute.

How do the glossy, semi-gloss and nubuck bags differ?

In how the crocodile meets the light. The same skin can be finished to a shine, to a soft half-shine or to a velvety nap, and the finish changes the character of the bag as much as its colour does. The Divine Dozen uses all three.
Glossy crocodile is polished so that every scale reflects light. It is the most formal and the most visible of the finishes, and in the collection it belongs to bag 3 in brown with gold hardware and to bag 4 in light grey.
Semi-gloss keeps a softer glow that reads by shadow as much as by shine. It is the finish of bag 1 in khaki, bag 6 in light nude and bag 8 in deep bordeaux: colours that need warmth rather than brilliance.
Nubuck is crocodile buffed to a soft, suede-like nap, trading the natural sheen for a matte, velvety surface. The quietest of the three, it belongs to bag 2 in black, bag 7 in deep blue and bag 10 in terracotta. In nubuck even a strong colour speaks in a low voice.

Why does Himalaya crocodile stand apart?

Because it is one of the rarest names in crocodile leather. The name belongs to the very top of the handbag world: a matte white Niloticus crocodile Himalaya Birkin 30 by Hermès sold at Christie's in Hong Kong on 29 November 2017 for HK$2.98 million, reported at the time as the most expensive handbag ever sold at auction.
In The Divine Dozen, Himalaya is bag number 5, a pale crocodile with an orange lining. The House describes it as rare, luminous, almost ethereal, contrasted by a bold inner fire. Its number stands for movement and freedom, the balance between elegance and energy, calm and impulse.
Himalaya is not new to the House. It is among the skins of the seven pairs of mules made for Conor McGregor, and the House's bespoke projects include a Himalaya Crocodile Jacket. In the collection it is the one bag where rarity of skin and lightness of colour meet.

Why do some bags have an orange lining?

Because orange is the House's way of placing fire inside a calm exterior. Bag 4 pairs light grey crocodile with an orange lining and bag 5 does the same with Himalaya. From the outside both bags are restrained; the colour appears only when the bag is opened.
The same idea runs through other pieces of the House. Orange Private Edition gives mules an entirely bright orange sole, and the House's ready-to-wear bag in black crocodile is lined in orange leather.

Why are crocodile handbags so expensive?

Because of how little of an expensive skin a bag can actually use. Only the belly of a crocodile gives the even, square scale rows a bag panel needs; the flanks grade into smaller, irregular scales, and skins with healing scars or uneven rows are rejected at grading. A bag then consumes several times the skin a belt does.
The second cost is matching. On a well-made crocodile leather bag every panel is matched for scale size and direction across the body, the flap and the gusset, so that the pattern reads as one surface. That means cutting from more than one skin and discarding what does not match.
The third is time. Crocodile is cut with the scale run planned across every panel and finished by hand. A handmade crocodile bag takes weeks rather than days; the House's own bags take approximately four to five weeks to make.

How much does a Divine Dozen bag cost?

The House does not publish prices for The Divine Dozen on the collection pages; the price of each bag is confirmed with the House when a guest asks about a particular number. Each bag has its own skin, colour and finish, so the twelve are not priced as one model.
For orientation, the House's ready-to-wear crocodile bag has a public price. The cross-body bag in glazed black crocodile is $8,500. A one-of-one bag from a closed series sits above a repeatable model, and a rare skin such as Himalaya above a standard one.

Is a collectible crocodile handbag an investment?

It can hold value, but the House does not sell The Divine Dozen as a financial product and makes no promise about resale. What can be said honestly is which qualities the market for collectible handbags has rewarded, and which of them these twelve bags have.
Three things tend to decide whether a crocodile bag holds its value. Scarcity that cannot be diluted: a closed series is stronger than a model that can be reissued. Provenance: a bag that is signed, numbered and archived can prove what it is decades later. And the material itself, with rare skins standing apart, as the Himalaya auction result showed.
The fourth is condition, and it is in the owner's hands. Crocodile lasts for decades when it is stored and conditioned correctly; our guide to crocodile leather care covers how.
Is a crocodile bag worth it? As an object, if it is well made and you will carry it, yes. As an investment crocodile handbag it is a bet on rarity and documentation, and a numbered one-of-one from a series of twelve is built on exactly those two things. It is not a Birkin alternative, and it does not try to be: a Birkin is a model produced over decades, while each Divine Dozen bag is a single object that will never be made again.

Can you commission a bespoke crocodile handbag instead?

Yes, but not inside The Divine Dozen. Every page of the collection says it plainly: no custom orders, no repetition, only one place among the twelve. A Divine Dozen bag cannot be made to order or reproduced in another colour for a second owner, and there will be no thirteenth bag.
This is what separates the collection from bespoke. A bespoke project starts from a person's brief and can become anything: footwear, clothing, a travel bag designed for private aviation. The Divine Dozen starts from a finished collection and asks the owner to choose.
A guest who wants a custom crocodile bag in a colour or form outside the twelve can commission a crocodile handbag through bespoke. A made to order crocodile handbag of this kind will also be one of one, but it will not carry a Divine Dozen number.

How is The Divine Dozen different from the House's ready-to-wear crocodile bag?

In the same way a numbered edition differs from a signature model. The ready-to-wear cross-body bag is made in glazed black crocodile with a natural orange leather lining, 17 cm high and 23 cm wide, priced at $8,500 and available made to measure on request.
A Divine Dozen bag is not a model at all. It is a single object in its own colour and finish, with its own number, that will not be made again. The cross-body is the House's luxury crocodile bag for everyday; The Divine Dozen is its collectible edge.

How do you choose a crocodile handbag?

By checking four things rather than trusting instinct. They apply to any genuine crocodile handbag, from any house.
  • Skin section. Panels cut from the belly show the most even, prized scale pattern; flank cuts are less uniform. A bag built from well-matched, consistent panels signals real attention to sourcing and cutting.
  • Hardware. Clasps, zips and feet should feel substantial and be finished to the same standard as the leather. Mismatched hardware on an expensive-looking bag is a common shortcut.
  • Documentation. A legitimate crocodile skin bag should be traceable to CITES-compliant sourcing. Asking for this is a normal question, not an unusual one.
  • Structure. A soft bag ages differently from a structured one, and neither is better. The right choice depends on whether the bag is for daily use or for occasions.
How crocodile compares with ostrich, python and other skins is set out in exotic leathers compared.

How do you acquire a bag from The Divine Dozen?

Through its own page. Each of the twelve bags has a page on vladbykovbrand.com with its number, colour, finish and a purchase button; the bags that have found owners are marked as sold. The collection opens from The Divine Dozen page.
For a private viewing or questions about a particular number, the House is reached by writing to private@vladbykov.ae. Consultations take place in person in Dubai or by video call.
Because the series is closed, the choice is real. Each number can be placed only once, and a bag that has found its owner leaves the collection for good.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Divine Dozen collection?
The Divine Dozen is the first collectible collection of VLAD BYKOV Couturier House: twelve crocodile handbags, each in its own colour and finish, each made as one of one. Every bag is signed, numbered and archived and will never be recreated.
How many bags are in The Divine Dozen?
Exactly twelve, numbered from 1 of 12 to 12 of 12. The series is closed: no bag is repeated in another colour or form, and no thirteenth bag will be made after the twelve are placed.
Is The Divine Dozen a limited edition?
Yes. The edition is closed at twelve bags, and unlike a typical limited edition the twelve are not identical: each is a one-of-one crocodile handbag in its own colour and finish, so the collection is limited to twelve and each bag to one.
Which Divine Dozen bags are already sold?
As of 6 October 2026, three bags are marked as sold on the House's pages: number 4 in glossy light grey crocodile, number 8 in semi-gloss deep bordeaux and number 10 in terracotta nubuck crocodile.
How much does a Divine Dozen bag cost?
The House does not publish prices on the collection pages; the price of each bag is confirmed on request. For orientation, the House's ready-to-wear cross-body bag in glazed black crocodile is $8,500, and a one-of-one bag sits above a repeatable model.
Why are crocodile handbags so expensive?
Only the belly of the skin gives the even scale rows a bag panel needs, and a bag uses several times the skin a belt does. Panels are matched for scale size and direction, and the work is cut and finished by hand over weeks.
Is a collectible crocodile handbag a good investment?
It can hold value, but the House makes no promise about resale. What the market has rewarded is scarcity that cannot be diluted, documented provenance, rare skins and good condition. A numbered one-of-one bag from a closed series has the first two by design.
What does "signed, numbered and archived" mean?
Each bag carries its identity and has a fixed place in the House's record. Inside bag number 5, for example, a leather label reads THE DIVINE DOZEN, EDITION NO. 05 OF 12, BY COUTURIER VLAD BYKOV.
Can I commission a custom crocodile handbag from VLAD BYKOV?
Yes, through bespoke, but not inside The Divine Dozen. The collection accepts no custom orders and no repetitions. A bespoke crocodile handbag is also made as one of one, in the colour and form you choose, without a Divine Dozen number.
How do I buy a bag from The Divine Dozen?
Each bag has its own page on vladbykovbrand.com with a purchase button, and sold bags are marked. For a private viewing, write to private@vladbykov.ae; consultations are held in Dubai or by video call.
